Lago Cholila, Argentina :: Property description

Cradled by the waters of Lake Cholila, Chubut, this 2,300 ha property (5,683 acres) of great natural beauty is strategically located between two National Parks -Nahuel Huapi and Los Alerces- and only a few hours away from top ski-resort towns Bariloche and Esquel.

The property has approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) of shoreline, comprising a great part of the main peninsula on the northern coast of lake. The private beaches are lined by cypress and coihue forests, and rise into low range cliffs with exceptional views. Inland, pampas and terraces complement the beautiful landscape.

The property provides access to one of the most beautiful and breathtaking peaks of the central section of the Patagonian Andes, the Tres Picos Peak (2492 meters), identifiable for its showy summit and a well-known destination for foreign mountaineers ?this summit is approximately 900 meters (a half mile) from the property boundaries. The Tres Picos springs a creek that flows into the lake marking off a remarkable fishing spot.

The lake is well known for its trout and Sebago salmon fishing -Lago Cholila, together with Lago Traful in Neuquen are two of the very few Argentinean lakes where Sebago Salmon are present.

Several well-known businesspeople and foreign artists own other properties on the lake.

A gravelled road links the property to a private inn located on the eastern end of the lake http://www.delpedregoso.com.ar/english/english.htm which is close to a light carriage aviation runway used mainly for private flights from nearby airports, such as Bariloche?s international airport.

Location: 15 kms (9.3 miles) from the town of Cholila, Province of Chubut, Argentina. Cholila is approximately 196 kms southwest from the ski-resort town of Bariloche.

How to get there: Fly to Buenos Aires and transfer to the domestic airport to connect onto a flight to San Carlos de Bariloche (2+ hours). There are several flights per day serving this route. There is a 196 km drive from there, mostly on paved roads, that takes approximately 2.5 hours. Another option is to fly to Esquel ?it has fewer flights, but is only 1.5 hours? drive away from Cholila.
